Let Jesus Answer It

Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD. (Jeremiah 23:24). If this were a government or even another human speaking, we would — and should — be concerned. But when our Lord says it, these words bring unspeakable joy and comfort. In a daily devotion by Billy Graham titled “Victory In Jesus” he wrote, “Every day brings battles and temptations. But the strength we need for conquering them comes from Christ. We can do like the little girl who said that when the devil came knocking with a temptation, she just sent Jesus to the door!” That’s where the idea for this song came from. Please give it a sing-along listen and come back for more on living with might — and delight — in the never-ending presence of the Lord and His heavenly helpers.

Who stole my privacy?

You may have heard the song “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” sung in a low, slow ominous-but-funny voice warning “He sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. He knows when you’ve been bad or good — so be good — for goodness sake!”

With social media stalking us and rewarding us with targeted advertising, and toll road devices noting our travel while photographing our license plates, and grocery store discount cards recording our every purchase (“We won’t tell anyone else what you are buying … HONEST we won’t”), it might be disheartening to think even Santa Clause is in on the game.

As far as privacy is concerned, we have WORSE news to look at. (But be of good cheer! We also have great news, so don’t go away yet!)

Here is the bad news: God’s enemy — our enemy, too — is the author of death, the author of lies, and does nothing but work to steal, kill and destroy. This enemy is hugely successful. The secret of his success is the secrecy of his moves. He is brilliant at hiding in plain sight.

Is this enemy concerned about your privacy and mine? Not even a little bit. Instead, with stealth better than any master thief or secret agent this enemy walks around the earth as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

We might want to demand that this enemy respect our privacy. Maybe we should stage a protest. Write letters. Write laws. Get off the grid and flee to the country. Good luck with THAT! No, we need a better plan.

Here is a better plan:
1. At LEAST twice as many spirit beings of this enemy’s kind — but good guys — are at work watching and protecting people.
2. God and His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, actively watch and work to guard and guide us when we are awake, when we are asleep and — well, any other time or state we might be in.

That is some plan! How are you feeling about your privacy now?

Our chance to protest

Some people don’t like the setup we just looked at. They want to click an “opt-out” button and simply not participate. A wise coach once told me, “We MUST learn the set-up. We don’t need to LIKE the set-up, but we MUST learn what it is.”

Good counsel! But some people just won’t learn the set-up and live according to the setup. They act as if ignorance is bliss. They live as though what they don’t know won’t hurt them. The same wise coach said, “Ignorance is NOT bliss. What we don’t know WILL hurt us.” More good counsel.

Can we agree we do well to learn the setup — and live according to it?

The Bible says EVERYONE — even those who reject everything we are considering here — everyone will get the opportunity to speak their mind about “the setup”. Paul says it better in Romans: “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” Revelation 20 says something like it: “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.”

I looked up “opting out” of that meeting, but couldn’t find anything.

Bottom line, if we cannot hide from an enemy that has a lot more experience than we do, cannot be seen, and works tirelessly to steal, kill and destroy, we can be humbly and hugely THANKFUL that the Lord has better eyes, a bigger presence and a MUCH BETTER DESIRE for our very lives than that old serpent has.

I’m sure I’m dealing in understatements here. But let’s start with THANKFUL.

Might and delight … in the Lord

Some closing thoughts …
1. When we are going to live forever, there is not that much to worry about, right?
2. For those who deny, or who have never heard “the setup”, let’s walk in love and HELP THEM. They might not want to be raised from the dead to give an account of themselves to God, but there is no opt-out button! So let’s help as many as we can to get their names in BOTH books — not just the “deeds” book (a “yikes” record, I’m thinking) but ALSO the BOOK OF LIFE. This is the ONE book we all want to be found in!
3. Knowing the eyes of the Lord are on us and His angels protect us, let us put on the whole armor of God and walk in might and delight in the Lord right now TODAY.

We’ve been given life, glorious life, and a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.
Thank God!
Thank Jesus Christ!
And though they have not asked for it, maybe we could toss some thanks toward the angels watching over us, too.

In everything we think, say and do, do all to the glory of God. And when temptation is knocking at the door — let’s let Jesus answer it.

God bless you lots!
Dale R.

LYRICS: Let Jesus Answer It
Song by Dale Reichel (2021)

1. Left home and finally felt unsupervised
How to live right – barely a clue
Times the devil came knocking I’d give him my ear
Listen to tips on sweet things I could do.
I felt I could float on his schemes and live fine
But found every hope sank in roiling seas
The Lord is my shepherd but I didn’t know
Night and day He was watching over me

Refrain:
Let’s let Jesus be our Lord
In all that we do and all that we quit
If the devil comes knocking at our front door
Let’s let Jesus answer it

2. The Lord’s always watching, He stands at our side
We’re never alone, we’re in blessed company
The Lord and His army surround like a cloud
Night and day watching over you and me.
The devil is always prowling to pounce
He’s up to no good he’s a counterfeit
If the devil comes knocking at our front door
Let’s let Jesus answer it (refrain)

Ending:
If the devil comes knocking
Tries to ring your bell
Don’t start talking or unlocking
That never goes well
If the devil comes knocking at our front door
Let’s let Jesus answer it
Let’s let Jesus answer it

Love this mind picture at the door! Really appreciate the admonition too: “We MUST learn the set-up. We don’t need to LIKE the set-up, but we MUST learn what it is.” Brings to mind “be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”

Good early morning Mr Dale, blessings 🙏,..your song and your sermon enspired me, what an awesome song, “LET OUR FATHER JESUS ANSWER THE DOOR”!!! the enemy is good at hiding in plain sight, he was once that angel of light , the door is our hearts, like u said, if the devil comes a knocking at our door, let. OUR FATHER JESUS ANSWERED IT,..If we will fill our heart with the sword of RIGHTEOUS, Satan don’t stand a chance, BECAUSE OUR FATHER JESUS WILL BE RIGHT THERE TO DEFEAT him… OUF FATHER JESUS HAS ALREADY DEFEATED him, Satan can prowl all he wants, if he comes knocking at my door, I would have to say to him, if u don’t mind being FACE TO FACE WITH OUR FATHER JESUS , …”try knocking…I told u Mr dale, how much your sermons inspires me, I start and don’t want to stop , but I will..please keep working for OUR FATHER JESUS, AND LET NOTHING STOP U. , U HAVE AMAZING GRACE BEFORE U AND BEHIND U. BLESSINGS 🙏 UPON BLESSINGS 🙏 GOES OUT TO U AND 🙏… YOUR FAMILY 👪 🙏 ❤…ALWAYS..
