Thankful

This song “Thankful” — by singer-songwriter-pastor Cliff Adelman — has meant much to me and many others for a lot of years. It’s a “thankful list” set to music. Please give it a sing-along listen, then come back for more on benefits of being thankful. You might be surprised to learn how much good being thankful does.

Why be thankful?

When it comes to God’s goodness to us, our reasons for thankfulness can never be exhausted. Thanks be to Him, always and ever!

But our cup runneth over. Being thankful also reflects blessings back to us.

Headline: God designed us so that we benefit from being thankful.

Really! Studies have shown that being thankful benefits people in many ways, including:

  • SOCIALLY –  thankful people have more and deeper friendships, healthier marriages, and higher self-esteem
  • EMOTIONALLY – thankful people have less envy, are more relaxed, more resilient, and have happier memories
  • MENTALLY – thankful people show better goal achievement , and improved decision making
  • PHYSICALLY – Thankful people have improved sleep, less illness, and increased energy

Worth the effort

Sad but true, we often need to remember to give thanks. IDEA: Grab paper and pencil, take 10 minutes, and WRITE. Quickly scrawl every reason you can think of to be thankful. If you will pick up your thankful list and read through it every day for 21 days, you just might be amazed at changes in you and changes around you. (Even better if you can get someone in your family or a friend to join with you for the 21-day experiment.) Give it a try.

No easier way to brighten a day, a room or a life than simply being thankful.

God bless you lots!

-Dale R.

LYRICS: Thankful
Song by Cliff Adelman

Chorus:
Lord God, I’m so thankful for,
Thankful for all Your love for me.
Lord God, I’m so thankful for
Calling me to Your family.

1. Thank You for each new morning
Thank You for each new night
Thank You for Your goodness,
Your power and Your light.

2. Thank You for forgiveness,
Thank You for Your Son.
Thank You for Your freedom,
The victory has been won.

Let’s stay in touch

Each time I post a new song and lesson here I send a brief, cheerful note to friends of this song site. The note gives a quick description of the song and lesson along with a link to the new song’s page. It is super-easy for you to get a note from me, too. Just click the green “Song of the Week” button below and you are almost there.

To sweeten the deal, you will also get instant access to the “Music Box” where I put all the free resources and downloads that go along with these song pages. Check it out now! Good stuff. (Side note — I still post announcements on social media, too, even though I have learned it is terribly unreliable at getting the message out and keeping us connected. Email gets that job done where social media fails. We do well to connect this way, and avoid getting throttled by social media.)

Good evening Mr Dale, “THANKFUL”…..RE-COMMENTING ON BEING THANKFUL” AND THE QUESTION,”WHY” ….NOW THAT’S A TRILLION DOLLAR QUESTION”…….I wanted to add why should we be “THANKFUL”, AGAIN. we should be thankful for our families that surrounds us on this holiday season..or the food that we so readily take -in……bellies full, ready to gossip or sleep it off…. it’s all to be thankful for…or. GRATEFUL AN THANKFUL FOR ……. NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT WE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL FOR IS OUR FATHER JESUS WHO IS THE BREAD OF LIFE!!!!!!!!!! WHICH IF WE FEED ON HIM , WE SHALL NEVER BE HUNGRY AGAIN……if we can just imagine how. HE FED THOSE 5 THOUSAND ….”WHAT”. Was that two little fish and five loaves of bread “WOW”…..NOW HE HAS TO BE THE BREAD OF LIFE, OR MAYBE IT WAS JUST THE WAY HE SPOKE THE WORDS,….All we have to do in this life is love as HE LOVES US ..AND BE FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH HIS WORDS … AND REMEMBER THAT HE IS THE WORD MADE FLESH IN A HUMAN BODY, …. THAT’S , A REASON TO BE THANKFUL …. Let’s remember to always give. “THANKS” TO HIM …… Before any and everything….. blessings 🙏💕 to everyone…. I am thankful for u and Cathy, for taking the time to share all the amazing songs and sermons… 🙏💕… ALWAYS..
