Thank You Father

Another simple kid’s song — yet if the devil had known what we sing here, he never would have crucified Jesus Christ. This is a song about the best-kept secret EVER. God alone knew about it and did not reveal the secret until after Jesus Christ was raised from the dead and ascended. But the secret HAS BEEN REVEALED. Give the song a sing-along listen, then come back for more.

Best-kept secret

To us, a “mystery” is something we cannot know or understand. So when we run into the word “mystery” in the Bible, it’s easy to shrug our shoulders and assume its not something we are going to understand.

But our senses come alive when we read Paul in Ephesians, where he tells us about a particular mystery — a secret God kept from EVERYONE until he revealed it to Paul.

AND, Paul continues, we can read more to learn God’s best-kept secret.

We can know and understand this mystery — this “sacred secret.”

The mystery revealed

Romans 16:25-26 tells us the mystery was kept secret since the world began, but now (the time Paul was writing) is being made known.

I Corinthians 2:7-8 tells us that if this secret HAD been known, “the princes of this world” (top prince is the devil) would NOT have crucified Jesus Christ. WHY? Because through Jesus Christ’s death, resurrection and ascension Jesus was able to release a gift of power to us that defeats the princes of this world. They made a huge mistake when they crucified Jesus Christ!

Ephesians 3:3-6 tells us God revealed the knowledge of the mystery to Paul, knowledge NOT previously made known to anyone. Here — in Ephesians — we get a glimpse of WHAT the hidden secret was:

that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel

That might not ring our bells very loudly, but that is HUGE. Gentiles as fellowheirs with the children of Israel? One body with them? Partakers of His promise in Christ? It was known that the Gentiles — the outsiders — would get blessed through Israel. But no one thought they would get all the way in through the promise in Christ.

Colossians 1:25-27 repeats that this mystery was hidden from “ages and generations” but now is made known to the believers, and then spells it out this way, “To whom [his saints, the believers] God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you the hope of glory.”

Christ in you the hope of glory.

CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY.

Christ in you the hope of glory is so big, so grand, so awesome that it takes time for people to soak it in and begin to learn what it means.

Christ in you the hope of glory
went way beyond restoring what Adam lost.
Christ in you the hope of glory
changes us from body and soul “empties” to Christ-filled people of body, soul and SPIRIT.
Christ in you the hope of glory
makes us members of the body of Christ.
Christ in you the hope of glory
is the gift of God of everlasting life.

Can you see why the devil would not have crucified Jesus if he had known what would come of it?

Can you see why God kept it a secret?

Can you see why God was willing to give His only begotten son, that whosoever believes would have everlasting life?

Can you see why this is such powerful information for us to learn, to live and to teach?

No longer a secret

Jesus Christ’s disciples thought he came to restore the kingdom to Israel. When Jesus was crucified, their hopes were shattered. The resurrection astounded them. His ascension and the day of Pentecost that followed soon after sent them in a direction they had not imagined. Their education continued — there was much they needed to learn and understand.

“Christ in you the hope of glory” was to the first century church a huge revelation of a giant truth.

It was one of the last things they learned.

God’s enemies worked hard in the years following to hide the truth of “Christ in you the hope of glory.” The bad guys did a good job. “Christ in you the hope of glory” has been mostly unknown and unpracticed for almost two thousand years. Martin Luther shook things up by getting people moving toward living by faith in Jesus Christ — which was an important step — but did not get to the greatness of “Christ in you the hope of glory.”

Good news — you and l live in a time when many people are lighting up to “Christ in you the hope of glory.” Things are popping that people have not seen much of since the first century. And they are going to get hotter and better.

This is our time to learn to live big as members of the body of Christ, as spirit-filled children of God, manifesting POWER, bringing love, deliverance, truth, healing and LIFE to hungry churches and a starving world.

It is Christ in you the hope of glory.

LYRICS: Thank You Father

I want to thank you Father
For making me
Someone who carries
Your mystery
O thank you Father
For making me a son.
(I’ve got Christ inside me)
Thank you Father
For making me
Someone who carries
Your mystery
O thank you Father
For making me a son.
